Left in another trapeze (14-07-08)

It is indeed difficult to subdue the Left so easily since they, apart from being a considerable force, exert a striking influence on a large section of the national intelligentsia. This became evident when they came out of the government smartly and without heeding the problems, which the country may face, went to the President and urged her to convene the trust vote. The same defiance is reflected when they, in a defiant mood, proudly assert of their convictions to continue the struggle against the nuclear deal. Well, they never forget to mention other issues like rising prices and inflation, surrendering of national interest, and unkept promises with regard to the Common Minimum Programme (CMP).

There may be others, which you may not have heard in your lifetime, but you should know that apparatchiks are highly adept to include new demands and never to implement them.

Now the question remains what is their foremost strategy behind all these gimmicks. The populace, especially of West Bengal and Kerala are highly experienced of all these through years and are consequently tired.  But the time goes against the ‘revolutionaries?’ All, particularly the urban and upcoming middle class is ardent supporter of this deal and aspirant of a developed India.  This makes their tasks tough since none it ready to believe them. But there are certain humble questions.

Were they not aware of the class character of the UPA before forging alliance or was the compulsion to resist NADA greater than commitment to ideals? Why didn’t they threat to back out when there were first indications of inflation and the failure of the government to curb price? Was it an infantile disorder to demand the perception of the original draft or any sinister design?

Definitely time will answer these questions but not the comrades!
